Hello everyone!
Today we're having another trip to an English-speaking country, which is Canada!
Requested by one of our readers, I decided to undertake a little research and learn something about this - apparently - unusual country.
Today we're having another trip to an English-speaking country, which is Canada!
Requested by one of our readers, I decided to undertake a little research and learn something about this - apparently - unusual country.
Location:
Canada is located on the northern hemisphere (półkula) and is surrounded by countries like: the USA (north
and south), Denmark (north) or Russia (north). It's a pretty big
country, 2nd biggest in the world, with 9,971,000 square kilometers of
land. It's 28 times as big as Germany! Due to (z powodu) the size, Canada comprises (składa się) of 6 time zones.
Three oceans touch Canada - the Atlantic on the east, the Pacific on the west and the Arctic to the north.
...that Ottawa is the second coldest capital in the world?
Six cities in Canada have a population of over 1 million: Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Ottawa. See the map!
Language:
Canada has 2 national languages: English and French. Actually Montreal Montreal is the world's second largest French speaking city, right after Paris.
Do you know how to recognize (rozpoznać) a Canadian? They seem to like to finish a sentence with the word eh.
A bit of Canadian slang:
- loonie - A common euphemism for the Canadian one-dollar coin.
- click- A euphemistic term for a kilometer.
- Canuck - A Canadian!
- tunk - Knock.
- owly - in a bad mood.
- yarn - a chat.
- mugup - snack.

Very interesting post! I haven't know the better part of facts that you mentioned. It's possible that Canada is the least known English-speaking country, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteTrue, it's usually forgotten by majority of people. We actually haven't written anything about this country and probably wouldn't if one of our readers hadn't asked for this post ;)
DeleteI also got to know some interesting facts about Canada, hopefully I will go there one day :)
Hello! Nice post, very unusual. In fact, I've had only one lesson about this beautiful country at my English lessons. Canada is nice place to visit - there are lots of interesting animals (ex. white bears) and places (ex. Niagara Waterfall). And you don't need a visa to travel between Pland and Canada;)
ReplyDeleteI hope you will write some more about this country:D
PS I fell in love with section 'some fun facts' <- great idea;)

ReplyDeleteI absolutely love Canada, i was there 2 years ago ;) I know about this country almost everything. I hope i will go there in this year ;)
(sorry for my english, i could make some (also basic) errors)
Oh, what do you think about Canada? Is is really cold there? Did you see any moose walking around the streets? ;)
Brzmi to niesamowicie, naprawdę!
